A major avalanche has caused extensive damage in Uttarakhand’s Badrinath region, where more than 40 personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are still unaccounted for. In response to the disaster, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has mobilized four teams to assist with rescue operations.

The workers were constructing roads in the high-altitude areas when the avalanche hit, leaving several of them trapped under thick snow. According to the latest reports, 32 workers have been rescued so far, and search operations are continuing.

Local authorities have emphasized the difficulties faced by the rescue teams due to the challenging terrain and freezing temperatures. Specialized equipment like snow cutters and life-detection tools have been deployed in an attempt to locate the remaining workers. The NDRF teams are coordinating with the Indian Army and local police to cover all possible routes and ensure that no stone is left unturned.

The avalanche struck early in the morning, and efforts to clear the area have been hampered by ongoing snowfall and limited visibility. As of now, no casualties have been reported, and the authorities are hopeful that more survivors can be rescued in the coming hours.
