Infosys, India’s leading IT services provider, has rolled out a new “system intervention” that mandates all employees to work from the office for a minimum of 10 days each month. The move is part of the company’s drive to ensure that its hybrid work model encourages collaboration, team building, and culture development in a post-pandemic world.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Infosys, like many other companies, adopted a work-from-home model for its employees, which helped them manage work during lockdowns. However, as business operations stabilize, Infosys is keen on restoring in-person interactions that are essential for fostering teamwork, mentorship, and innovation. The new policy introduces a structured hybrid work system, requiring employees to balance remote work with a minimum of 10 office days each month.
The system intervention is designed to allow employees to meet the requirements while still benefiting from flexibility. Employees will need to log their office attendance digitally, and a company system will track the number of days worked from the office to ensure compliance. The policy is not intended to completely eliminate remote work but to create a set routine for employees to connect physically with their teams.
Infosys has stated that the intervention aims to increase team cohesion, enhance brainstorming sessions, and provide a space for face-to-face communication that is often more effective than virtual meetings. Senior executives believe that this initiative will ensure that employees maintain strong ties to the company, contributing to job satisfaction, employee retention, and productivity.
The hybrid working model is still a work in progress for many organizations. Infosys is aware of the challenges this transition may present, but the company is confident that fostering a flexible yet structured working environment will allow employees to perform at their best, both remotely and in the office.
