A night of horror gripped Delhi’s Palam locality after a massive fire broke out in a residential building, leaving nine people dead and several others injured. The incident occurred late at night, catching residents off guard and triggering chaos.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, fueled by flammable materials and the closely packed structure of the building. Many residents were trapped inside as thick smoke filled the corridors and stairwells, making escape nearly impossible.

Fire department officials said they received the call around midnight and immediately dispatched multiple fire engines to the scene. Despite their efforts, rescuers faced significant challenges due to the narrow lanes leading to the building, which delayed access.

Rescue teams managed to evacuate several residents, some of whom were rushed to nearby hospitals with burn injuries and breathing difficulties. However, nine people, including three children, could not be saved.

Survivors recounted harrowing experiences, describing how they struggled to find their way out in the darkness and smoke. Some residents reportedly attempted to jump from windows to escape the flames, risking serious injuries.

Authorities have begun an investigation into the cause of the fire, with initial suspicions pointing toward an electrical fault. Officials are also examining whether the building complied with mandatory fire safety standards.

The tragedy has sparked outrage among local residents, who have long complained about unsafe living conditions and lack of regulatory oversight in the area. Many are demanding accountability and stricter inspections to prevent such incidents in the future.

Government officials have assured that action will be taken against those found responsible for negligence. Meanwhile, relief efforts are underway to support the affected families, many of whom have lost everything in the blaze.
