Founded in June 2025, Mumbai-based acappella band Sharp Sixx is creating a distinctive space in India’s contemporary live music scene through an approach that puts the human voice at the centre of every performance. Unlike conventional bands that rely on instruments, Sharp Sixx produces its entire soundscape through human voices, combining layered vocals, harmonies and vocal percussion to create a sophisticated live musical experience.
The collective comprises six talented vocalists, each contributing a specialised element to the group’s sound. Arnav Gupta performs as the Bass Vocalist, while Michael Jose takes on Baritone and Tenor vocals. Meher Taneja contributes as the Alto Vocalist, Janhavi Bhagwat performs as the Mezzo Vocalist, and Shivya Sharma takes the Soprano range. Completing the vocal arrangement is Pratham Chawla, who performs as the Beatboxer and creates the group’s vocal percussion. Together, the six members create a complete musical arrangement without conventional instruments.
Sharp Sixx is led by Founder and Manager Akshar D. Oza, who brings previous experience from another acappella group, Instrumen. A beatboxer, singer and multi instrumentalist, Oza has played an important role in shaping the collective’s musical identity and overall direction. His experience across different aspects of music allows Sharp Sixx to combine structured vocal arrangements with contemporary performance techniques.
Since its formation, the band has performed for a cumulative audience of more than 1,000 plus people and completed performances for approximately 25 plus clients. Its work has also extended into branded entertainment, with Sharp Sixx collaborating with names including Vivo and Freshpik. The group wrote jingles and performed for the Vivo V70, while also taking the stage at the launch of a Freshpik store in Pune, demonstrating its ability to adapt its vocal format for corporate and commercial events.
With private performances taking place across India, Sharp Sixx has already travelled to cities including Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Udaipur, Raipur, Bengaluru and Gurugram. Beyond its live performances, the band has also developed a growing digital presence, with more than 8,000 plus followers on Instagram and over 300 plus subscribers on YouTube. This expanding audience reflects the growing visibility of acappella music among contemporary listeners and live-event audiences.
As Sharp Sixx continues to develop its repertoire and expand its presence across India, the collective represents a fresh interpretation of ensemble performance. By transforming six individual voices into a complete musical arrangement, the Mumbai-based group is building an identity around vocal precision, harmony and creative performance, positioning itself for an increasingly diverse range of private, corporate and branded musical engagements.
