Radhika Madan belongs to the category of those few actors who made a successful transition from TV to films. However, the switch hasn’t been that smooth for her. Earlier this year, Radhika Madan ran into some controversy when she made a comment on the work culture of the Indian TV industry. It brought criticism even from people within the industry. Now, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actress finally broke silence on the matter.
Radhika Madan’s comment on the TV industry
During the promotions of her film Kuttey, Radhika had reflected on her experience of working on TV. She had spoken about the long working hours and how the script would often come to her on set with no fixed screenplay in place. The actress also said that her inputs were rejected by her director.
The comment incited criticism from the people in the TV industry. Sayantani Ghosh, Ravi Dubey, Sargun Mehta and Ektaa R Kapoor were some people who openly criticised Radhika’s comment. Ektaa, who was also the producer on Radhika’s first TV show, had called it ‘Sad and shameful’.
Radhika BREAKS SILENCE on the issue
In our conversation, we mentioned the whole matter to the actress. When asked if being vocal about her opinions, like in this case, work against her sometimes, Radhika answered in the negative. She said, “No, I think I will speak my truth always. I don’t know, it might be different than yours and I won’t judge your truth. And that is what I believe in, that is what I live by and that is what has taken me ahead in life. Till the time I don’t have any malice in my heart, I’ll be okay and that is what I want to live by.”
But did she ever feel cornered or highly scrutinised during the whole situation? When put forth that question, Radhika humbly replied, “I think half information is really dangerous. And whoever saw the full interview they got to know what I was trying to say and that is the reason I didn’t explain it.”
