Babil Khan, son of late legendary actor Irrfan Khan, delivered a terrific performance in Netflix’s Friday Night Plan. Babil played the role of a nerdy older brother in the film. Post the release of Friday Night Plan, Babil sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble and bared his heart out. The actor opened up about how just like character Siddharth in the film, he took pressure upon himself after father Irrfan Khan passed away.
Babil Khan talks about pressure
Babil told us, “I took it upon myself. Nobody told me to do this. AndNobody told me to take the pressure. Nobody told me to become an actor. I wanted to. I stepped into the mud and now I have to deal with it. And I feel pressure all the time. I wake up in pressure and I sleep in pressure. I go through the day in pressure. But the truth is that you will never realize your potential as an artist and a human being without pressure. Because pressure it shapes you, it is needed to shape you.”
The actor went on to add, “And you grow up dealing with pressure, you understand that how to live with the pressure rather than be overwhelmed by the pressure. So, I used to get overwhelmed with the pressure but then I realize that pressure is not there to scare me, its there to shape me.”
Bail made his debut in Bollywood with Qala. He had received rave reviews for his performance in the film. And once again, he has delivered an unforgettable performance in Friday Night Plan. He is slowly making a mark in the industry. So far, he has made a place in people’s hearts with his performances.
When asked whether people now see him as an actor, and not just Irrfan Khan’s son, Babil responded by saying that he doesn’t know it has gone but he has noticed the change. He said, “People have been coming to me. Before it was all about ‘I love your father’ and even I was like ‘I love my father’ (laughs). But now, people do come to me and I’m totally expecting them. They are like ‘Oh, I watched your work and I really liked it’ and he becomes all shy.” He further mentioned that the positive response and appreciation gives him confidence.
Irrfan Khan passed away on 29th April, 2020, due to cancer-related complications.
During the candid conversation, Babil also opened up about the hilarious nicknames he used to get because of his dad growing up, bond with mother Sutapa Sikdar and brother Ayan and a lot more.
