Bhumi Pednekar REVEALS Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi encouraged her to do more solo movies

Bhumi Pednekar shares Gangubai Kathiawadi opened up doors for her

Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi emerged as an absolutely impressive movie that left the audience in awe of the actress and the story. Alia also won a National award as best actress for Gangubai Kathiawadi. Needless to say, Gangubai was Alia’s solo movie and she rocked it in every frame. Now, Bhumi Pednekar opened up about the narrative of a traditional actress and how she desires to change it. Bhumi also shared how she gained confidence from Gangubai Kathiawadi.

During the conversation with us, Bhumi Pednekar said, “Maybe a film didn’t come my way because they just thought that I don’t look like a traditional conventional heroine. But I am going to change that narrative. I am going to change the definition of what a traditional conventional heroine is going to be. And that’s what keeps me going. And that is what has given me the confidence to do solo films.”

Further, Bhumi said how Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi gave her the courage to do more solo films. She said, “Especially as women, we should not get insecure of each other because if my film does well, it will also open up doors for you. Gangubai doing well opened up doors for me.” As Alia and Bhumi have already delivered solo movies, we would love to watch the two divas share the screen together.

Further in the interview, Bhumi Pednekar also recalled an incident from the days of Dum Laga Ke Haisha and shared how people reacted to her weight gain in the movie.
