Vidya Balan has proved her mantle in Bollywood with hard-hitting roles in films like Parineeta, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Paa, The Dirty Picture, Kahaani and more. The actress – who will soon be seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar, is a very private person and rarely opens up about her personal life. The actress usccessfully kept her relationship with producer Siddharth Roy Kapur away from the media during their dating period and only publicly spoke about it when they decided to make it official.
In a recent chat, the ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ actress opened up about her life and revealed being cheated on by her first boyfriend. During the same chat, she also got candid about keeping her and Siddharth’s relationship a secret during their dating phase. Read on to know all she said.
Vidya Balan on being cheated on
During a conversation with The Indian Express, Vidya revealed her spirit was crushed when her first boyfriend cheated on her. The ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ actress said, “I have been cheated on. The first boy I dated cheated on me and I have to tell you he was just an a**.” She continued, “I remember we had just broken up and I bumped into him in college on Valentine’s Day and he turned around and said that ‘I am just going to meet my ex-girlfriend for a date.’ And I was like what? He literally crushed me that day but I have done better than that in life for myself.”
The actor added that she wasn’t a ‘serial dater’ and has been in relationships with only a few men. Reflecting on her past relationships, she said, “I wasn’t a serial dater. I dated a few men. But I’m thankful my first serious long relationship was to the man I am married to.” Talking about if there was a pattern in her choice of partners, Vidya Balan replied, “I was into a. All of them seem like a in retrospect that’s the only pattern I can see. I obviously had a thing for them.”
Vidya Balan on keeping her relationship with Siddharth Roy Kapur a secret
Talking about the fun she had while keeping her relationship with Siddharth Roy Kapur hidden, Vidya Balan said, “I didn’t want it coming out anywhere and the paparazzi culture had just started. I remember our first few dates were only in the car. We would keep driving around from Bandra to Town and back. But those were heady times, very exciting and I think the fun was also there because there was a slightly clandestine quality to it, which I completely enjoyed. It was great fun.”
Upcoming projects
On the profession front, Vidya Balan was last seen as Mira Rao in the 2023 mystery film Neeyat. She will soon be seen on the big screen in Shirsha Guha Thakurta’s directorial debut Do Aur Do Pyaar. The upcoming romcom is scheduled for theatrical release on April 19, 2024. It also stars Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy in pivotal roles. She will also be seen reprising her role as Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
